How JamDrop works
Browse what others are playing, share your own picks, and jump into live listening sessions. Here is everything in simple terms.
Look around the feed
The home page is one scrollable list of songs, playlists, and live Jams. Use the filters at the top if you only want a certain genre or type of post. Tap anything to open it in Spotify or read comments.
Share a song or playlist
- Sign in with your email (we email you a code, no password).
- Tap Post on JamDrop and add your Spotify link, or use one of the shortcuts below.
- Write a short caption, add genres if you want, and publish.
Add JamDrop on your phone
JamDrop can live on your home screen like an app, no app store needed. That unlocks the best experience on your phone.
iPhone (Safari)
- Open JamDrop in Safari (not another browser app).
- Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll and tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
- Open JamDrop from your new home screen icon next time.
On iPhone, alerts when someone you follow posts a song, playlist, or live Jam work best from that home screen app, not from a regular Safari tab. You can still post from Safari using copy and paste.
Android (Chrome)
- Open JamDrop in Chrome.
- Tap Install when you see the banner at the bottom of JamDrop, or tap the menu ⋮ and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Open JamDrop from your home screen or app list.
- In Spotify, tap Share on a song or playlist. You should see JamDrop in the list.
Choose how you post
- Android phoneAdd JamDrop to your home screen, then in Spotify tap Share and choose JamDrop.
- iPhoneTo post: Spotify → Copy link → JamDrop → Post → Paste Spotify link. Add to home screen for alerts when people you follow post (songs, playlists, and live Jams).
- Computer (any browser)Use our one-click bookmark: copy the link in Spotify, then click the bookmark.
- Spotify in ChromeInstall the JamDrop add-on for a Post button right on the song or playlist page.
Host a live Jam
A Spotify Jam is a live group listening session. You start it in the Spotify app (hosting needs Spotify Premium). When your Jam is running, copy the invite link from Spotify, post it on JamDrop with a quick description of the vibe, and others can join while it is still live.
Follow people & get alerts
Following is how you keep up with specific people, not just the whole feed. When someone you follow posts something new, JamDrop can let you know.
What you get alerts for
- Songs they share to the feed
- Playlists they share
- Live Jams they start (group listening sessions)
Comments on your posts
If you posted a jam, song, or playlist while signed in, you can get an alert when someone comments (same notification setup as above: allow notifications and use the home screen app on iPhone). You will not get an alert for comments on your own post from yourself.
How to follow someone
- Open the feed and sign in with your email (one-time code, no password).
- On any song, playlist, or Jam post, tap Follownext to the person's name.
- When asked, tap Allow notifications so you can get alerts on your phone or computer, not only while JamDrop is open.
- On the feed, use the Following filter to see only posts from people you follow.
On iPhone, lock-screen alerts work best if you add JamDrop to your home screen. You can still follow people and post from Safari either way.
